Expert Meeting with the National Coordinator for Combating Human Trafficking

Ljubljana, April 11, 2018

Meeting at the Ministry

With the aim of fostering closer cooperation, the leadership of the Cultural Society Dobra Družba (KDDD) met at the Ministry of the Interior with Mr. Sandi Čurin, who was appointed in 2002 as the national coordinator for the inter-ministerial working group for combating human trafficking, established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, first in December 2003 and again in July 2012. The inter-ministerial working group reports on its activities to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia in annual reports.

Discussion on Commercial Sexuality

In the introduction, the leadership presented the activities of KDDD and its goals in introducing new perspectives and activities regarding the regulation of commercial sexuality and its manifestations in the Slovenian environment. Mr. Sandi Čurin agreed that times are changing and that the field of commercial sexuality in Slovenia requires a more comprehensive approach. For more radical changes in this sphere, he suggested that an interested party should more actively inform the public about the issue of paid sexual services and provide expert information on all aspects of commercial sexuality.

Outcome and Future Cooperation

During the meeting, KDDD representatives expressed their satisfaction that the presentation of common ground, which could serve as a basis for potential cooperation between the two organizations, was met with an open mind. Mr. Sandi Čurin also offered the society's leadership expert assistance regarding information and legal aspects of KDDD's operations, as well as activities that KDDD wishes to carry out in the context of education and international cooperation of professionals, both in Slovenia and in the wider EU area.
