The 10 Commandments of the Adult Industry: A Response to '24UR Inspector'
Debunking the myths and manipulations spread by the media.
Introduction: Two Realities
When we speak publicly about the adult industry, we face two realities. The first is the one portrayed by the media, moralists, and non-governmental organizations, which persistently take examples out of context to stir up moral panic. The second is the true picture of the industry, which we know – the workers, creators, organizers, and experts who are on the ground every day.
Therefore, as the President of the Council of the Dobra Družba organization and one of the most vocal advocates for the rights of workers in the adult industry, I will dismantle the mythology, manipulations, and facts.
1. YES, there are sad stories in the adult industry. But they are the exceptions.
Every industry, every sector, and every market has its dark sides. Are we going to ban construction because of construction accidents? Are we going to close all factories because of exploitation in the textile industry?
No, right? Then why do we treat the entire adult industry as a criminal enterprise?
Every sector needs regulation, supervision, and safety mechanisms. But prohibitions and stigmatization are a mistake that creates more harm than good.
2. The fault lies not with the workers, but with the system and its actors.
The responsibility for negative stories and victims lies with those who turn a blind eye to reality and fail to take necessary measures.
Dobra Družba has been warning about problems and solutions for years, but what happens? Ignorance.
That is why this year we are preparing a list of state institutions, officials, and organizations that did not react to our warnings, despite having the opportunity to prevent negative cases.
3. The solution is not suppression, but organization.
Instead of waiting for the state, we are taking action.
Dobra Družba is preparing a catalog of independent workers that will provide:
✔ verified and safe working conditions
✔ protection against violence and fraud
✔ a communication system between workers
✔ regulation of prices and service standards
The industry is not abolished – it is improved.
4. 'Workers are hiding to make the police's job harder'? Seriously?
Let me explain:
📌 In 2003, Slovenia decriminalized prostitution, which means the police have no legal basis to 'track' workers.
📌 The police themselves – under the influence of non-governmental organizations – participated in closing nightclubs and legal business premises where people worked under better conditions.
📌 Because there are no more safe and supervised spaces, workers have moved to private apartments – a logical consequence that the police now 'don't like'.
So: first they destroy the safe infrastructure, and then they complain about its lack?
5. Erotic massage and prostitution are not the same thing.
The adult industry is not a single entity, but is composed of different segments:
➡ Erotic massages (legally classified under activity SKD08 96.040)
➡ Escort services
➡ OnlyFans, fetish performers, BDSM, webcams
➡ Club and salon offerings
Each segment has its own specifics, client profiles, and standards. Lumping everything together shows a lack of knowledge about the industry.
6. Don't compare Slovenia with Austria or other countries.
The Balkans have their own mentality, history, and economic conditions. The adult industry is developing differently here.
But what is true everywhere is this:
👉 People leave happy.
Whether it's a massage, a club, a fetish session, or companionship, the essence of the industry is customer satisfaction.
7. Ključ Society: Good intentions, wrong approaches.
When Slovenia joined the EU, a feminist organization had to be established to 'fight human trafficking'.
📌 The founder had strong connections with certain circles, their influence extended to the police, judiciary, and media.
📌 Their approach was ideologically biased; they wanted to completely destroy the adult industry.
📌 Instead of solving problems and improving working conditions, they helped shut down the entire Slovenian scene.
Did they do some good? Yes.
Did they cause enormous damage? Also yes.
8. Why do people choose the adult industry today?
Today we have:
💡 Exponential growth of digital communication
💡 Social platforms offering monetization of erotic content
💡 Economic conditions forcing people into alternative sources of income
What motivates them?
✔ Financial stability
✔ Desire for fame
✔ Exhibitionism
✔ Enjoyment of the work
✔ Flexible working hours
Often, people are free in their choice; coercion is the exception.
9. If we're opening debates about 'victims,' let's also open up about VIP pedophile networks.
If we are going to talk about the dark sides of the industry, then let's talk about everything.
📌 Organized networks that exploit minors
📌 Pedophile circles of the rich and influential
📌 An industry that operates in the shadows and that the media is afraid to expose
But no, we'd rather talk about commercial work by consenting adults.
10. 'Self-proclaimed advocate for sex workers'?
Let me laugh.
📌 8 years of operation of the Dobra Družba organization
📌 Internationally recognized status
📌 Participation in industry regulations
If it's so hard to acknowledge expertise, then I'm not surprised we have so many legal absurdities in Slovenia.
Dobra Družba will record ALL interviews in FULL
👉 The media only takes the parts that suit them.
👉 But we will publish the full statements so you can compare.
